NSS orientation programme 2023 : Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam
The NSS unit of The Bhopal School of Social Sciences organized an orientation programme on the theme "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam".
The orientation programme was organized for new students to apprise them about what is NSS and how to join NSS. Around 700 newly enrolled students participated in the orientation programme.
In this programme Dr. Ashok Kumar Shroti (Regional Directorate M.P. C.G. Ministry of youth affairs and sports) as chief guest, Dr. R K Vijay (State NSS Officer) as guest of honour, Dr. A.K. Saxena (Program Coordinator of NSS Barkatullah University Bhopal) as special guest and Mr. Rahul Singh Parihar (ETI trainer, Program Officer open unit Barkatullah University Bhopal) as keynote speaker, Principal of BSSS college Reverend dr. Father John P.J., Vice Principal Dr. Sister Sonia and dean of academics Father jomy panithas as other guests were also present.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting of lamp and garlanding on the portrait of Swami Vivekananda, followed by
a beautiful prayer dance, then all the guests were welcomed and honoured by providing them with a sapling as a token of gratitude.
The welcome address was given by Dean of academics Father Jomy Panithas, in his address he mentioned about the importance of social service for a student. He also motivated and encouraged students to join the NSS. NSS's lakshya geet stood by NSS volunteers to inform the students about what are the objectives and responsibilities to of a NSS volunteer.
Volunteers performed a theme dance on mental health, a mime on social issue like bad effects of using social media and women empowerment, a folk dance on incredible india was performed by the volunteers depicting different regional folk dances of various states. The folk dances beautifully represented regional dances of 5 states including Uttarakhand from North, Kerala from South, Gujarat from East, West Bengal from West and M.P. representing central region of India. The Program Officer Dr. Naina Singh (Girls unit) presented report of NSS regular activities for the academic session 2022-23. The senior volunteer of the unit Mr. Somit Dubey and Miss Ananya Tiwari shared their experience of NSS and motivated students to join NSS. The keynote speaker of the programme in his address Mr. Rahul Singh Parihar said that the NSS provides an opportunity for a student to develop his personality, he informed the students about the benefits of joining NSS. The volunteers also presented traditional attires of different states like Jammu Kashmir, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana in traditional ramp walk based on the theme "vasudhaiva kutumbakam" itself. In the program the achievers of the unit for the year 2022-23 were also felicitated and honoured. The annual magazine Swarotkarsh edition 3 and 4 for the year 2021 and 2022 and annual calendar which includes planned activities of the year 2023-24 were also released by the Program Officers and honorable guests.

The guest of honour Dr. R.K. Vijay said in his speech that the efficiency of Indians is such that 200 Indians are more than enough to shine and rise amongst 1000 people in the whole world. The chief guest of the programme Dr. Ashok Kumar Shroti motivated students and said that NSS is not just about doing cleanliness work and labour rather it is about developing your whole personality by doing community service,
The respected guest Mr. Rajkumar verma told students about personality development through NSS and how important it is for a student to focus on his personality development.
This was followed by a dance filled with patriotism.
At the end, the program was concluded by Kushagra Tiwari, by proposing vote of thanks.
