The Equal Opportunity Cell of The Bhopal School of Social Sciences hosted a thought-provoking session titled "Equality—An Essence of Society" which was designed to underscore the importance of equality and foster a culture of inclusivity within the academic community
The session began with a ceremonial Devaharam, highlighting the institution's commitment to compassion and community support. Principal Dr Fr John PJ delivered an opening address, emphasizing the necessity of overcoming discrimination and embracing an egalitarian mindset. His speech underscored the significance of addressing traditional biases within Indian culture, particularly concerning gender roles.
Ms.Chhajed delivered a compelling presentation that aimed to eliminate social and professional disparities. She emphasized the role of educational initiatives, including Bridge Course activities, employability skills, and leadership development, in promoting equality. The session was notably interactive, with Ms.Chhajed engaging students through insightful questions and discussions. She highlighted the achievements of individuals from marginalized groups, such as the disabled and LGBTQ+ community members, illustrating the positive impacts of embracing diversity. In her concluding remarks, Ms.Chhajed expressed gratitude to the students for their active participation and attentiveness. She reiterated the need for a collective commitment to addressing and rectifying discriminatory practices to foster a more inclusive society.
In recognition of her contribution to the event, the Principal presented Ms.BhumikaChhajed, a distinguished Child Guidance and Counsellor, with a memento. He also congratulated Swapna Pillai, the EOC Advisor, for her exceptional efforts in organizing the session. The session proved to be a significant and enriching experience, offering participants a deeper understanding of the principles of equality and actionable steps to promote an inclusive environment.
