The Department of Social Work of the Bhopal School of Social Sciences organized an exposure visit for BSW and MSW students to Gauravi — India’s first One-Stop Crisis Centre, located at JP Hospital, Bhopal. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the integrated support system available for women affected by violence.
Students learned about the comprehensive services offered under one roof, including legal aid, medical assistance, psychological counseling, and rehabilitation support to ensure complete care for survivors. The visit was coordinated by Gagandeep Singh from ActionAid India, who facilitated interaction between the students and the centre staff.
The Gauravi team briefed students on operational frameworks, case management processes, and inter-departmental coordination involved in supporting survivors. Sabal Jha conducted a special session highlighting policy implementation and emphasized the role of social workers as policymakers.
The visit proved to be an enriching learning experience, strengthening students’ understanding of community-based interventions and support systems.
