From 7 to 17 April 2026, the Department of Social Work BSSS of The Bhopal School of Social Sciences, under the JAGRITI Team, in collaboration with the Centre for Social Animation of Marginalized, Migrants and Nomads (SAMMAN), organized a “JAGRITI – Swachhta Awareness Nukkad Natak Programme” in Bhopal to promote health, hygiene, and cleanliness awareness.
The programme was conducted at several locations across the city, including Nehru Nagar, Jawahar Chowk, Mira Nagar, Patrapul, and Habibganj. Students, NGO representatives, and volunteers actively participated in the drive by presenting street plays and engaging with the community.
Through these Nukkad Natak performances, students and volunteers conveyed important messages about maintaining cleanliness, reducing plastic usage, proper waste disposal, and keeping public spaces hygienic. Local residents appreciated the initiative and pledged to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.
The programme was coordinated by Atul Vishwakarma, Fieldwork Coordinator. The event received valuable guidance from Fr. Jams SVD, Director of SAMMAN Bhopal. NGO staff members including Sumati Tigga, Sanjay Lugun, and Assistant Directors of SAMMAN Bhopal were also present and supported the programme.
At the conclusion of the programme, the NGO distributed certificates to the Nukkad Natak team members in recognition of their participation and contribution. The organizers stated that such initiatives aim to encourage youth participation in social responsibility and raise community awareness towards building a cleaner and healthier society.
