BSSS 'Mayar' Street Play Receives Acclaim

UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador and Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon arrived in Bhopal on Thursday, April 8, 2026. During an event held at the Women's Police Station, she observed and commended the Madhya Pradesh Police's community policing model. Deeply impressed by her interactions with survivors and by witnessing the self-defense skills demonstrated by the children, Kriti even learned a few self-defense techniques from one of the young girls.
During the program, when women—victims of the 'Natra' custom and various forms of abuse—shared their personal stories, Kriti expressed her empathy and offered words of encouragement to boost their morale. Amidst these proceedings, students from The Bhopal School of Social Sciences' 'Mayar' group staged a powerful and awareness-raising street play. Through this street play, they launched a strong critique against substance abuse, child marriage, and various social evils. Directed under the leadership of Gaurav Choubey and Jayant Khare, the performance saw all the artists deliver an outstanding display of enthusiasm and commitment. The play effectively portrayed grave social issues such as domestic violence, child marriage, gender discrimination, gender inequality, and the "Jhagda Natra" custom, thereby successfully conveying a message of awareness to the audience in attendance.
DIG Mr. Vineet Kapoor lauded the street artists—Ashwin Ajit, Vinamra Choubey, Vijayesh Singh Thakur, Rajvardhan Singh Kushwah, Sujal Bal, Devdoot Vishwakarma, Mahak Solanki, Khushi Maheshwari, Madhura Vighne, Kritika Kathote, Alvira Sajid, Vishal Chandravanshi, and Krishna Aswani—and extended his best wishes to them. The 'Mayar' group was congratulated on their magnificent performance by BSSS Principal Dr. Father John P.J. and PRO Dr. Manju Mehta.
