The Equal Opportunity Cell of The Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS) organised an insightful session titled "Understanding Bias and Embracing Differences: The Psychology of Inclusion and Equal Opportunity" on Monday, 7 September 2026, at BSSS.
The session was conducted by Mr. Nikhil Mishra, Psychologist, Organisational Well-being Consultant, Leadership Development Strategist, and Behaviour Change Expert. The programme focused on developing a deeper understanding of unconscious biases, inclusive practices, and equitable team-building, encouraging participants to reflect on how individual perceptions and behaviours can influence interpersonal and professional environments.
Through practical insights and engaging perspectives, the session highlighted the importance of recognising unconscious bias, embracing differences, and creating spaces where individuals feel respected, valued, and included. Participants were also introduced to practical approaches for fostering inclusion and promoting equal opportunities in diverse settings.
Dr. Father Jomi Panithas, Dean Academics, BSSS, addressed the gathering and highlighted the relevance of the session in developing greater awareness of inclusion, equality, and respectful interpersonal relationships, particularly in diverse academic and professional environments.
The programme reflected the Equal Opportunity Cell's continued commitment to sensitising the campus community towards diversity, inclusion, equity, and non-discrimination. BSSS has consistently undertaken initiatives through its Equal Opportunity Cell to promote awareness and foster a supportive and inclusive campus environment.
The session concluded with an emphasis on the need to move beyond awareness towards meaningful behavioural change and the creation of more equitable communities.
