The Department of Psychology, The Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS), in collaboration with the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness, organised a two-day programme to observe Suicide Prevention Day, centred on the theme "Changing the Narrative on Suicide" and the call to action "Start the Conversation." The programme commenced on September 9 with an expert session on "Gatekeeping for Suicide Prevention: Recognise | Reach Out | Refer", led by Dr. Vinay Mishra, Professor and Head, Department of Psychology, BSSS. The session focused on recognising warning signs, responding sensitively, and connecting individuals at risk with appropriate professional support. The second day featured "Sounds of Hope", a musical jamming session at the Psychology and Happiness Laboratory. Dr. Sr. Leema Jacob, Vice Principal, BSSS, graced the session and addressed the students, emphasising the importance of hope, emotional connection, and supportive conversations in promoting mental wellbeing. The programme reinforced BSSS's commitment to suicide prevention and mental health awareness by encouraging compassionate support, open dialogue, and timely intervention.
